“X” and “Y” represent two dimensions in space, two axes in management control, or two chromosomes that determine gender. Here, in this work, they refer in particular to two dancers — Zhu Xing and Zhu Yue.
They are marvelous twin dancers different from any twins we have ever seen. They compete with each other, depend upon each other and peep at each other. “Peep”, what an interesting word! “We sometimes peep at each other, neither of us wants to surpass or be surpassed by the other.”
They share the same life experience while keep distinctive personalities in their self-consciousness, just like the X-axis and Y-axis which start off from the same point, they advance towards different directions of life, but still remain inextricably connected.
To capture the dancers’ movements and meditation with videos is what we have been doing.
Falling into an illusory land and galloping over the wilderness, the dancer meets an individual who is inextricable with herself, as their mental spaces overlap, the physical dominance is transferred. This performance not only showcases the life experience of Zhu Xing and Zhu Yue, but also signify the spiritual wilderness of you and me.
