Hofesh Shechter’s cult stage work Political Mother, which has been playing since 2010, comes to the screen in the form of a new short film, UNPLUGGED, which is as gritty, intense and exciting as all of Shechter’s work. From behind the lens of the cameras, Shechter brings the imposing architecture and intimate spaces of London’s iconic Battersea Arts Centre into the centre of the action, drawing the audience into a fragile world of emotion as a group of individuals struggle against the complex structures that define their world and ours.
Directed, choreographed and scored by Hofesh Shechter, POLITICAL MOTHER: The Final Cut gets under the skin of the stage original and brings a fresh new dance energy to the screen against the backdrop of Shay Hamias’ animation.
