French musician and producer Rone is an important figure in contemporary electronic music. He has been established on the world music scene since 2009. To explore his musical universe, he teamed up with the Orchestre national de Lyon to perform the piece L(oo)ping at the time of Covid. French director Louise Narboni was also invited to join the project, which creates a dialogue between electronic repertoire and symphony orchestra. With camera and dancers, she wove the small intimate stories of several characters into a large musical event on the principle of daydreaming. The gradations, the pulsations of the score, but also the brutalist architecture of Lyon’s Maurice Ravel Auditorium mirror, but also enhance, the inner world of each character. One of them is the composer Rone himself – an unassuming genius – whose character tells a story of talent, passion and solitude in a few frames.
